2015 Wallpaper* San Francisco City Guide

The 2015 edition of the handy little San Francisco Wallpaper* City Guide published by Phaidon is now available. This is the 4th year I have photographed restaurants, hotels, retail stores, cafes, architecture and other attractions in our fair city.

Here are a few from the shoot earlier in the summer.

Abbot's Cellar on Valencia St. - lots of reclaimed wood used very tastefully.
The communal table near the front of Abbot's Cellar. The open kitchen has bar seating and vintage cookbooks.
Great collection of "found" paintings at Alta Cafe in the Mid Market strip.
Boulibar in the Ferry Building. A beauty!
Comal in downtown Berkeley. Incredible sound system by Meyer Sound

The lobby of Hotel Zetta across from the Old Mint.
A barber salon inside a clothing store - JA Razor off Union Sq.
 Local Mission grocery store.
 March Pantry is off-the-charts gorgeous.
Art and furniture at March Pantry
The owner of Outerlands is a magician with the reclaimed/recycled woods.
Saison in its new location near the Giants ballpark. Sumptuous!
SF institution Tosca has been lovingly brought into the 21th century via the 1940s
The classic 1930s Art Deco landmark high rise at 140 New Montgomery has 2 new restaurants on the ground floor. This is Trou Normand.

Berkeley Art Museum - Pacific Film Archive closing Dec 21st. 2014

A festive and fond "until we meet again" celebration at the long time home of the  Berkeley Art Museum/Pacific Film Archive.

The seismically unsafe building is now closed and the new downtown Berkeley BAM/PFA home is about a year from its Grand Opening.

The light filled interior with its sloping ramps, prow-like overlooks and cast-in-place concrete walls is iconic and has hosted many amazing exhibitions over the last 50 years.
I still have the over sized poster for the Richard Avedon show.

A great place for experiencing art and people watching. It will be missed!
